The nice ones say it was erotomania. You know, that she had just imagined all of it and it was all her fault – or all her failed brain’s delusional fault – that she believed he was in love with her.

Because of course, it couldn’t have been the attention he lavished on a desperate girl who wanted to be the best, telling her of course she was, but it didn’t really matter, because she had him, didn’t she? There’s no reason for her to believe that, other than a messed of brain or belonging to a narcissistic generation who couldn’t see anything outside of themselves.

It’s always been her fault. It wouldn’t have mattered if she hadn’t believed he was in love with her, it would have been her fault for seducing him (because 36 year old men are so pitiful compared to 17 year old girls, didn’t you know?). If she hadn’t given in, it would have been her fault for failing the class, because ‘couldn’t you just be better, dear, you knew this was important but you didn’t like your teacher so you screwed around (in the different but still her fault meaning of the word) and forced him to fail you’.

And of course if she thinks well of herself or even just tries to make herself better after all this, it’s all her narcissistic generation’s fault because she couldn’t keep her clothes on but now wants to move on and pretend to be a good girl, right?

Because she didn’t play the game well enough, and somehow manage to not be everything that epitomes our generation according to the news, it has to be all her fault for claiming he loves her (and nobody will even look at him, because we’re all her friends and we’re just feeding her mad delusions and narcissism when we claim he did things).

Written for FFM  2016, Day 21, Theme "Me Me Me Generation" and one word prompt "erotomania"

...yes, I have feelings about the idea that my generation is inexplicably obsessed with itself, even though every part of life (linkedin, make sure your online presence is curated, have 50 activities before applying) basically requires presenting a controlled idea of who we are as people. :stare:

Also, I've seen some older prestigious people who were only too likely to groom and then drop people and act utterly confused. :P Not to me, but to other people around me, especially HS age girls.

Nasty situation. You show every angle she could have approached the situation from, then shut off those means of escaping in-tact one by one. Very effective at showing how trapped she is. :(
