She was the girl who never knew green.

They told her that grass was green, explaining that green was the color of those pills she had once taken before the pain had gotten too bad.

Her mother told her that green was the color of her father’s eyes, and she almost thought she could remember those.

But half-forgotten memories are not knowledge, and she died at age sixteen, never knowing what green truly was.
